Description:
Pilanesberg National Park is set in eroded remains of a 1, 2 billion year old volcanic crater. The Park, which covers some 55 000 hectare, is the fourth largest game reserve in Southern Africa and is situated about 180km northwest of Pretoria. This malaria free park plays host to 360 bird species, the nocturnal brown hyena, cheetah, hippo, crocodile and the much sought after “Big 5”.

We spend most of the day searching for the “big 5” stopping at waterholes and bird hides along the way. Abundant bird life makes this park a paradise for birding enthuciast. When the sun becomes to hot, we leave the park for a short while and visit a lion breeding centre where you can interact with some lion cubs.
Lunch is enjoyed at Bakabung and then it’s back to the bush till dusk sets in when we return back to the city.
