Jo'burg / Apartheids museum/ Soweto Print E-mail

Description:

A Quick glimpse of Joburg as we explore the cities highlights and makes our way towards Gold Reef City, host of the Aparthheid Museum.
The museum aims to communicate the basic principle behind apartheid. This is a very intense stopover (2 ½ hours)  but very informative.
From there on its off to Soweto, South Africa’s largest township, with over 3 million inhabitants.
We stop over for lunch in Soweto, and then on to visit the Hector Peterson Museum, where we relive the events of 16 June 1976. We also take a drive by the houses of Winnie Mandela, Bishop Desmond Tutu and the ever-popular Nelson Mandela family residence.

Shantys in Soweto
Apartheids Museum

The tour includes a visit to a community project in one of Soweto’s many squatter camps and experience first hand, what the life in Soweto and urban townships are all about. We visit the Regina Mundi church, Chris Hani Barathgwana Hospital and Soweto’s very own “Beverly Hills”

If you have some old left behinds in clothes or food, we can stop at an orphanage to allow you some time for a handover to the kids and needy.

Then its heading back to Pretoria via Jo’burg International Airport
